In 1993, with the adoption of the Law on the Areas of Cities, Counties and Municipalities in the Republic of Croatia, Velika Pisanica together with the surrounding settlements received the status of Municipality . It begins its activities, i.e. the area of activity that is under the jurisdiction of the municipalities by law, upon establishment.
Carrying out tasks of local significance that directly meet the needs of citizens; in the development of settlements and housing, spatial and urban planning, communal activities, childcare, social care, primary health care, education and primary education, culture, physical culture and sports, development of citizens' associations, protection and improvement of the natural environment, fire protection and civil protection and traffic in its area .
